People.Com: She just turned 23, but actress Ashley Tisdale tells PEOPLE she’s still Daddy’s little girl. That’s why the story line for her ABC Family original movie Picture This, struck a chord with her. In the movie semi-awkward high school senior Mandy Gilbert, a complete opposite of Tisdale’s signature Sharpay Evans in High School Musical, is on a short leash to her overprotective father thanks to her video cell phone. That makes venturing out with the hottest guy in school, whom she met when he saved her from drowning, a bit of a challenge. “Mandy’s relationship to her dad (played by Kevin Pollack) reminded me of my relationship with my dad,” Tisdale says. “My dad is very protective of me. He bought me a cell phone in high school just so he’d know just where I was.” Even though she lives on her own, Tisdale says her father still keeps tabs on her. “I still call him and tell him when I’m inside my house. He likes knowing that I’m safe and at home,” Tisdale says, laughing, noting that the paparazzi tend to allay her father’s concerns. “It’s funny, actually. He thinks it’s annoying that I’m followed around but then he jokes that ‘on the other hand we know where you are at all times,’” Tisdale says. Tisdale wrapped filming High School Musical 3 last month in Utah. The film is slated for an early October release. Picture This airs Sunday, July 13 (8 p.m. ET) on ABC Family and the DVD will be released July 22.

Walt Disney Pictures has made the following official announcement about the first “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” trailer: As fans anxiously await the big screen premiere of “High School Musical 3: Senior Year,” Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures revealed plans today to launch the film’s global first look July 13, 2008, on Disney Channels Worldwide. The worldwide online launch kicks off on Disney.com July 14 at 12:01 a.m. ET. “We’re paying homage to the fans by debuting our first look on the very network that launched the franchise,” said Mark Zoradi, president, Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group. “‘High School Musical’ is a worldwide phenomenon and as such, it is important to pursue a nearly simultaneous launch of the first look to fans everywhere, employing our online venue, Disney.com, as well as our international Disney Channels and Jetix platforms.” Beginning July 13 in select countries, the high-energy trailer will reach core fans in locales around the globe, including U.S., Canada, Japan, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Australia, Southeast Asia, India, Taiwan, Brazil and Mexico, among others. At first, I was hesitant to post this news since I couldn’t find any confirmation, but Tommy2.Net finally confirmed that this Friday (July 11th) at 7:15 PM ET/4:15 PM PT – you will get a chance to hear “Now or Never” from the “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” soundtrack when it premieres on Radio Disney. Someone from the cast will be there to help introduce the song. There’s a likely chance it could be Ashley as she is supposed to come back from vacation today. Of course, Ashley-T.Com will have the download of the song shortly after it premieres. Below, you can hear the advertisement that is currently playing on Radio Disney (which also includes a snippet of the song in the background).

“High School Musical 3: Senior Year” is about to graduate to the big screen and you’re going to get a first look at the Wildcat’s upcoming adventures! The “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” First-Look happens on Monday, July 14th on Disney Channel Asia. You can view the First-Look segment at the top of every hour: 6pm – 9pm MAL/PHIL, 5pm – 8pm WIB/THAI and 7pm – 10pm KOREA. It is currently unknown if Disney Channel America will show the First-Look on the same day. We’ll keep you posted if anymore information comes out!
